A product is fully supported for approximately 9 months after the release of the next version, and is in the Transition Support stage for another 9 months. Therefore, 18 months after a new release the previous release becomes unsupported.

When a new product version is released, the previous version remains fully supported for a time period to allow customers to transition to the new version. This support for the previous release does NOT include updates to support new operating systems or network environments that may be released during this overlapping time. Updates for newly released environment components will only be made to the latest Pervasive release. For example, Pervasive.SQL v7 was updated to support Windows 98, but Btrieve for NetWare v6.15 was not.

Fully Supported means:

  • 30 days complimentary Installation and Configuration support is available starting when the first phone or electronic support contact is made, and a product serial number is provided.
  • Phone support is charged* for all non installation/configuration issues.
  • Maintenance updates (bug fixes) will be made available to users who purchase a Maintenance Subscription.

Transition Support means:

  • Product is not readily available from Pervasive Software
  • Limited research time will be spent on issues with this product.
  • Phone and electronic support is charged* for any issue related to this product.
  • No maintenance updates will be made. Exception: component-level fixes may be provided on an emergency basis for critical issues to customers with a Managed support contract.

 Unsupported means:

  • Product is no longer available from Pervasive Software, nor is it on the price list.
  • No fixes will be made to this product.
  • NO support is available by phone or the web to non-contract support customers!

* Chargeable phone support is covered by incidents in an annual paid support contract, or individual per-incident charges.
